about

Scott Lawlor - This is really good, great complex layering and catchy titles. I get notions of a trick or treating outing going horribly wrong.

Insectarium - Mike Benoit and The Creeping Man come together to seamlessly showcase their skills in the joint venture "A Chilling Tale of Caution." These sound artists deliver a blend of unsettling drones, textures, and atmospheres. Track 1 serves as a good introduction to the album, slowly bringing the listener into the web spun by the artists. It shares the same deep ambience found in track 6, and each of these moments give the listener a moment of peace. Especially after being immersed in tracks which alternate between ambience and noise (track 5 is a good example of this) and the psychosis of track 4. Track 2 wakes the listener into a new realm which reflects sad industrial noises, like a machine holding on before it's functioning fails. Percussion in tracks 3 and 4 surprise the listener during the journey bringing a familiarity and a feeling of safety in the darkness. The combination of cinematic, industrial, and dark drones form the base of many of the tracks (3 and 7 are good examples of the bending of these styles). Overall, this album brings together the various styles of the ambient genre which is enough to keep any fan engaged and interested.
Favorite track: track 2 Clara Crane (The Candy Lady) & track 3 Anonymity Discomfort.

Compander - The first 20 seconds truly sets the stage for a great album to come, with the opening track ultimately feeling like an approachable warning.
The composition & mixing are both fantastic, with rich dynamics that never seem to sacrifice minimalism along the way. A brilliant balancing act, all around.
Delays like mirrors facing each other, windswept wastelands, found sound/Foley manipulation, ominous horns blown from distant mountain peaks & macabre, breathy utterances came to mind throughout this engaging listen. Highly recommended.

ElZombie Espacial - "A Chilling tale of caution" is a phrase used to name certain stories that, disguised under the horror/terror genre, have a preventive message, such as the book FRANKENSTEIN, which warns us about the dangers of manipulating science. With such a warning (which I must confess, I searched with the help of the Internet) I prepared to listen to this collaborative album between Miķe Benoit (a great artist from New Hampshire, Canaan, USA) and The Creeping Man, about which I know absolutely nothing... So I started doing a little research on him. The Creeping Man is a solo musician from San Paul, Minnesota, USA. and he uses everything within his reach to make sounds (a trait he shares with Mike Benoit). He has a project called Her Menacing Pet and a very interesting IG and YouTube Channel, since he is also a visual artist. Mike Benoit is a very prolific artist, and each of his albums is a surprise, he plays with experimentation, field recordings and something that also unites him to The Creeping Man: The dark ambient. As the album progresses, the sounds merge into a malevolent sonic chaos, giving life to slimy beings, ghosts and nightmares that try to come out of your headphones. Almost 45 minutes of terrifying images, of broken dreams, of tangible fears, of absolute horror... This duo knows perfectly how to send you to a world where horror is common currency, bringing you in this album, all types of existing evil, whether evil gods of nature, ghosts from the past, loved ones and memories that turn against you. An excellent album by two dark magicians capable of reliving your past, present and future fears...
